About the SSRFPD Board

The Board of Directors consists of 5 board members serving 2 year terms. If you are interested in serving on the SSRFPD Board of Directors send your interest and background information to info@ssrfpd.org. Board meetings are held the first Monday of every month at 5 p.m. at Centennial Hall in room 113/114. These meetings are open to the public.

Current Board Members

Bob Kuusinen

President
Bob Kuusinen joined the SSRFPD board in 2000. He has served two terms as president and one term as vice president. Mr. Kuusinen has a background in banking and hospitality and currently works as the Market President for Vectra Bank Colorado.

Kathy Connell

Vice President
Kathy Connell has been an active resident of Steamboat Springs since 1978. Her service to the community has included eight years on the City Council, Steamboat Springs Planning Commission, present board member of Mt. Werner Water & Sanitation and the Yampa Valley Botanical Park. She became the SSRFPD VP in May 2008.

Scott Havener

Scott Havener has served on the SSRFPD Board since 2007. Mr. Havener, a Steamboat resident since 1980 and owner of The Phone Man, has a B.S. in Range and Forest Management for Colorado State University. He has been a member of Routt County Search and Rescue since 1993.

Cliff Heltzel

Cliff Heltzel, a retired Los Angeles County fire captain, was elected to the SSRFPD Board in May of 2006. He has been a resident of Steamboat Springs since 1981.

James Ficke

Jim has worked in numerous locations in Colorado as a professional forester and wild land fire fighter. He served as operations section chief for the interagency fire overhead team for several years before he retired as fire staff officer for the Routt National Forest. He currently consults private land owners on forestry and wildfire matters.
